Here We Go With Christmas. . . . . . . .

Good morning everyone. Hope you are all well and ready for the festivities.

I have had a good week, so far, so have made the most of it by getting some cards done and the postal ones sent. Thank you for your comments on Nesta's Diwali card. I'm going to have a go at the DCWV Luminaries in the next few days as I wanted them for display at Christmas.

I'll have to put a photo of the house across the road on the blog. Every year, there is a new set of lights added to the existing display, which must drain the National Grid and cost them a fortune in electricity. Its that bright, we don't actually need to put our light on, unless we're reading lol!!!

Now, this is the first of many Christmas makes. I made this for Davey (he's had it so its ok to show) and Mr D liked it so much, he asked me to do one exactly the same for his brother and partner.
I have to admit, I've gone a bit daft with poinsettias this year, as you will see on future posts.

Cream, burgundy and gold mirror card
SB Layered Poinsettia dies
Cheery Lynn Holly Flourish
SB Classic Ovals
CE Snowflake Lattice embossing folder
Dovecraft sentiment stamp
Rhubarb Stalk Memento Dewdrop ink
Gold Krylon Pen

The card is 7x7. I put them in an 8x8 envelope but make them 7x7 if there is a lot of depth or florals on them so they don't end up squeezed in the envelope.

I was really pleased with how it turned out and Davey was a happy boy. I think this is what then set me off on my poinsettia fettish this year.

Well, that's me for now. Its Wednesday evening as I'm typing and my hot Ribena has just arrived as my pre-bed tipple.

Hope your festive plans are all going well. Its a full time job keeping Mr D away from the biscuits and chocolates for the next 10 days lol!!!

Ang x

  1. What a gorgeous card. Never too many poinsettias! Thank goodness cards are finished, just local ones to deliver. I've made too many so a good start for next year which I must start earlier.
Glad to hear you're able to do a bit more.

  2. A gorgeous card Ang. I do like these poinsettias as you know I've used them quite a bit this year too ...I like the flourish you have use too and a great design xxx

  3. Stunning card Ang, and the poinsettias are gorgeous. X

  4. Beautiful card Ang, so pleased you are having a good week chuck.
Message to Mr D , "stay away from the Christmas goodies"

    Take care

  5. Poinsettias always have a wonderful impact on seasonal cards and this one is beautiful.

  6. Morning Ang,
Gorgeous card, tight up my street, love it.
Pleased to hear you are feeling okay.

  7. OMG! A classic and gorgeous Christmas Card. Absolutely beautiful!
    Sandy xx

  8. Gorgeous Christmas card. I love poinsettias, too. So glad you had a good week. Wishing you more of the same.

  9. Wow! What a cracking card, love the poinsettias Its good to read that you had a good week, lets all hope it continues.

    From the tub.

  10. Hello Ang,
Glad you've had a good week and today's card is fabulous. I can never keep poinsettias alive, so this is one way of getting around it. It's just beautiful.
Have you tried a mouse trap hidden among the chocolate - works every time with "dippy" fingers ha ha.
    love Maureen xx

  11. Hi Ang, what a stunner, I love the design and dies and the beautiful rich colours you've chosen. Adore your festive blooms.
Pleased to hear you are having a bit of respite, and managing to get things done.
We have been over to visit Peter today, not long back, you take care, Kate x

  12. This is lovely Ang.
Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
    Love Nancy x

  13. Wow. Another stunner. These colours are super together and those poinsettia are gorgeous. Your neighbours might be over later with a tin for a donation! We came home into the village from the backroads tonight and one road has a bit of a war going on with each house to see who can have the brightest and most lights up. We nearly ran of the road as we were shouting oh look there's another one and another!! Maybe they are trying to make a point to the council about not having any street lighting. Hugs Mrs A.

  14. I assume your last comment meant that you are keeping Mr. D. away from YOUR choclicks and biscuits, yes? At least that's how it goes in this house. The Mister buys me treats from the market or Costco "just special for you, hon," and then he proceeds to dive in! Too funny, but I gotta love him. I remember getting a special license to do that a million years ago!

Now, as far as this card and those poinsettias go, you can poinsettia yourself silly as far as I'm concerned, Ang, because they are some of the best in all of Blogland! They look positively real and this card is stunning!!

And, finally, (are you still awake, dearie?) speaking of stunning, thank you for the GORgeous golden and dazzling Christmas card you sent! It is as beautiful as any light display in my neighborhood!! Love you lots and I'm delighted to hear you had a good week! Keep it up!! Happy Holiday hugs, Darnell

  15. Gorgeous card Ang! So elegant with the gold touches, and you can never have too many poinsettias I say! The road across the street sounds amazing! We have down the road as well. It's sooooo bright and there are so many things to see, that I just take a video because I would be there all night snapping the camera! Thank goodness for people like that, they brighten up the whole world (literally) lol. hugs and happy weekend!

  16. Beautiful card Ang I'm still trying to do my "special" cards This has given my mojo a bit of a kick Thank you

  17. This is a stunner, Ang. So glad to hear that you have had a better week.

    All the best
